Senate Finance Committee to Vote
National Right to Life’s Robert Powell Center for Medical Ethics reports that a vote is expected tomorrow in the Senate Finance Committee on health care. Note that the Finance Committee bill calls for taxes on more expensive insurance plans and for fees to be charged to drug companies and companies that make medical devices.
What a way to run a railroad! Charge people for better insurance plans and charge manufacturers for making equipment and drugs that help people. Why on earth is the U.S. known for some of the most advanced health care in the world? Because we put money into it. If we tax it, we will impede the research and development process.
And, if we socialize our medical system, we’ll end up just like other countries with socialized medicine: you’re fine if you’re healthy but be sure to have your will and property in order if you become seriously ill because the wait for treatment (that’s if you are not too old or too sick) could kill you.
