Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) Speaking on Healthcare in the Senate
Durbin is live on C-SPAN. He was speaking a short bit ago about Senator Coburn’s request yesterday to have the Sanders amendment read out on the floor of the Senate. Sanders amendment was nearly 900 pages long and would have created a single payer, government-run health care system here in the United States. Senator Coburn’s intent was to let American’s hear what it was the Senate was voting upon. However, Sen. Sanders pulled the amendment about three hours into the reading (this in itself was questionable).
Senator Coburn introduced reform in the Patient’s Choice Act to change health care but without the expansive changes Democrats are working toward.
