Laura Echevarria
For seven years, until June 30, 2004, Laura Echevarria was the Director of Media Relations and a spokesperson for the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC). While with National Right to Life, Ms. Echevarria appeared on The CBS Evening News, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, CNBC’s “Equal Time,” CNN, ABC, CBS This Weekend, NBC and other television programs and newscasts. She was quoted in various newspapers including The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal as well as news services, various magazines, and other national, international and local newspapers. Ms. Echevarria was heard on national and international radio, including ABC Radio News, AP Network News, NBC Radio, CNN Radio, CBS Radio, National Public Radio and various talk shows around the nation. Ms. Echevarria’s writing appeared in a number of local and national publications including USA Today.
Before joining NRLC in April of 1994, Ms. Echevarria was a radio announcer, a freelance writer and was active in local politics. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications. Ms. Echevarria is currently working on three books, including one about the politics of abortion. She has written for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Touchstone Magazine and Human Life Review. She has been a regular contributor to the opinion pages of The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, Virginia and she is an occasional opinion writer for LifeNews.com, the pro-life internet news source that reaches over 200,000 people each week.
Ms. Echevarria lives with her husband, their eleven-year-old daughter, Gabrielle, and their two sons, Peter, who is seven, and Nathan, five. Both sons have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.
