Maryland Follows Pennsylvania in Offering Abortions in Its ObamaCare Plan

Not surprising. Contrary to the hot air that came out of the White House, and a certain Democratic congressman who was supposed to stand up for life (ahem, Stupak), abortion will be subsidized with federal money. And though Maryland is only the second state to offer a health insurance plan covering abortion, more will come. [...]

Nebraska and Abortion

Nebraska’s law to make illegal abortions after 20 weeks is a logical conclusion to all of the research that has come out in the last 15 years about fetal pain. Researchers have found that beginning around 18 weeks, an unborn baby is capable of feeling pain stimuli. In fact, research has shown that unborn babies [...]

Obama to Sign E.O. Today to (Supposedly) Keep Status Quo on Abortion Funding

Press not invited, only pro-life Democrats have been invited. And does this Executive Order amount to anything? N.O. It’s not worth the paper it’s printed on. Am I still disappointed in Bart Stupak? Well, yeah. This legislation had more in it that just abortion– the fear is that this legislation will also lead to the [...]

AP Reports on the Costs of Health Care Reform

The following came from the AP story sent out on the wire this morning: The measure would also usher in a significant expansion of Medicaid, the federal-state health care program for the poor. The insurance industry, which spent millions on advertising trying to block the bill, would come under new federal regulation. Parents would be [...]

Bart Stupak on Democrats Who Believe Abortions Save Money

Bart Stupak, in an interview with National Review, said that some Democrats believe that abortions will save taxpayers money: “If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more. That’s one of the arguments I’ve been hearing,” Stupak says. “Money is their hang-up. Is this how [...]

Rep. Trent Franks on Abortion

You know, I get really annoyed when people who have no idea what they are talking about excoriate other people for trying to use a valid analogy to make a point. Over at Stark Reports, Mike Stark posted an interview yesterday with Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ) on health care and in the course of the [...]

Focus on the Family Super Bowl Ad

I am excited about the Focus on the Family ad featuring pro-life Heisman winner Tim Tebow. Of course, pro-abortion women’s groups like NOW are up in arms about it. But sometimes their knee-jerk-over-the-top reactions serve to remind everyone (including the media) that these groups represent only a small fraction of women. In other words, NOW [...]

Applauding Those Who Change Lives

I had the privilege a week ago of attending the 25th anniversary dinner for Bethany Christian Services in Fredericksburg. A friend of mine, Tom Strode (Baptist Press) and his wife Linda, very kindly invited my husband and me to the dinner. My husband got stuck at work and was unable to arrive in time but [...]

NRLC on Abortion Amendments in Health Care

The following is a NRLC press release from yesterday and I apologize for not posting it earlier this morning. It was a crazy day and my laptop was still having problems cooperating with the security protocols on the network at work. I think we have everything straightened out now. National Right to Life says new [...]

NRLC Release on Baucus Bill

Please visit NRLC’s press release regarding abortion coverage in the legislation introduced by Max Baucus. As expected, the legislation is really no different from other versions the Democrats have put out thus far: abortion is subsidized by the bill. In addition, the bill includes provisions that could cause rationing of health care for Medicare patients.

Wilson's Outburst

I think Rep. Wilson could have picked a more appropriate place to make his feelings known last night but I don’t believe he was wrong about the coverage of illegal aliens just as I don’t think Obama was truthful about abortion coverage. Why? Because Barack Obama said so in his speech before Planned Parenthood in 2007. He [...]

President Claims that Health Care Reform Will Not Use Federal Dollars to Pay for Abortions

Well no one said that it would exclusively be federal money paying for abortion on demand. No, never that. No, our government would just require coverage of abortion on demand in any health care insurance or health care plans.  Read the president’s speech to see what he said and then read the FactCheck.org evaluation of the bill and [...]
